CrunchyHog
The CrunchyHog was one of the best constructed distributed computing farms ever made by a home user. Bob Whitaker, the builder and designer of the Crunchy Hog passed away in 2006 of a heart attack. As an active member of the TeamPhoenixRising community, Bob inspired the 'Tigger and Pooh' Plymouth to Banjul rally team to choose the British Heart Foundation as the charity of choice.
This domain is maintained by Malcolm Hathaway, me. I purchased this domain soon after being asked to help see if the CrunchyHog could be re-used or restarted after Bob passed away. A days worth of travel and more than a few days testing every single piece of computer hardware that Bob had stashed away proved a fun task. The rewards were not as successful as I had hoped, and most of the kit that was fine was then sold and the monies donated to the British Heart Foundation. I purchased a cheap motherboard and processor to run on a BOINC account for CrunchyHog, and continue to add computers when I can to the account, in memory of the efforts Bob put into SETI.
